A leg knock has forced Scouting Wide out of Saturday’s Listed Christmas Cup at Rosehill but he could now be a surprise Villiers runner.
Trainer Tim Martin confirmed he had to treat Scouting Wide after he bumped himself on Wednesday, meaning he was unable to take his place in the 2400m staying feature.
“We waited overnight hoping it would be alright but we had to treat it so he can’t run,” Martin said.
“It’s disappointing.
“I think he will be OK to run next week and then back up in the Summer Cup.
“He will go to either the Villiers or a Benchmark 80 over 2200 metres.”
In a double blow, Martin has also been forced to withdraw Cindarockinrella from the second race at Rosehill due to an elevated white cell count, leaving him without a runner.
